Reflection

  • What did I learn in this course?
    • My favorite things I learned in this course were the three types of medicinal herbs practices, Ayurveda, TCM, and native american herbology. It was interesting how they seemed to have similar ideas behind all three.
  • What was my favorite activity in this course?
    • I liked the tea activity the best, mine actually tasted kinda good. I've always wanted to make my own tea mix and this class gave me the motivation to do it.
  • What do I know now that I did not?
    • I learned a lot about plant biology and chemistry, I'm still not 100 percent sure I understand it but it is interesting to know how a plant interacts with itself and a person to get medicinal effects.
  • How will I live differently with Herbs after this course?
    • I feel like I will do more independent research on an herb before I consume it, a lot of the time if I ever used an herb I would just be like "Oh this does this so I'll take it." Now I'll look up the alternatives and see what else I can take, and what different mixes and amounts I can take. Since I work at EarthFare I feel like I'll be better at answering customer's questions.
  • What are my suggestions for this course in the future?
    • I believe it would be beneficial to have the due dates more spaced out, so there will be more incentive to not procrastinate. I feel like there was a bit too much work, but I understand that this class is crunched, maybe its because I'm a history major and the type of work we do is different, but there does seem to be a lot of busy work in this class.
